🛠️ BEAMM Case Study (Part 1) – SkyVue Install, Phase 1 (Pittsburgh, PA)
🏙 Project Snapshot
- Client: Smarter Furnishings
- Property: SkyVue Apartments – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Type: Full-service install of new furniture + storage phase
- Scope: Multi-crew job with ongoing return scheduled
- Duration: 5 working days
- Crew:
- 5-person BEAMM team
- Smarter Furnishings team (10–12, partially sent home)
- Armstrong crew (8, exited before project wrapped)
✈️ Arrival After a Cross-Country Install
BEAMM arrived in Pittsburgh straight off a completed install at 13th & Olive in Eugene, Oregon.
We flew overnight, landed before sunrise, and showed up to site by late morning — running on time zone whiplash and no sleep.
Despite the travel, we worked until 9:00 PM that night and stayed past midnight the next.
The next day, we went back and kept moving — outpacing both crews already on-site.
🧱 Field Conditions
- Entered mid-install, no prep time
- Long-distance hotel commute via Uber (no rental cars due to crew age)
- 3 crews on-site at first: BEAMM, Smarter, Armstrong
- Coordinated daily unloads of 2+ freight trucks
- Handled wacky logistics:
- One day, 3 trucks arrived instead of 2
- Another day, a truck showed up empty that was supposed to have inventory
- Armstrong’s team exited early
- Smarter reduced its crew size after seeing BEAMM’s efficiency
- BEAMM operated with full autonomy
🏁 Floor Race (and Beatdown)
- BEAMM started from the top floor
- Smarter’s crew started from the bottom floor
- Unofficial challenge: race to the middle
- Result? BEAMM reached the middle first with half the crew size
- No corners cut. Just clean, complete installs
